Encompass - Functional Designs for Living

ENCOMPASS is a unique series of apparel and accessory sewing patterns for the home sewist. These patterns are the result of over 25 years of design research for and with people with specialized apparel needs.
Current ENCOMPASS designs address the needs of breast cancer survivors and women with lymphedema.
For example:
- Our Draped Nightgown was developed in partnership with breast cancer survivors, paying attention to their wishes to camouflage breast asymmetry in their sleepwear following mastectomy, while retaining a stylish silhouette that made them feel good. This nightgown includes a deep V-neckline with a lace-inset underlayer, making it easy to wear even in front of family or friends.
- The Cropped Coverup is a bolero-style, tie-front cardigan that is great for layering, and an alternative to a full dressing gown or robe. It also includes a concealed inner pocket to insert a breast prothesis if desired by the wearer. This garment has been designed to respond to the needs of breast cancer survivors, but is useable by anyone.
We are working on creating these patterns in PDF and paper format for purchase by home sewists in sizes inclusive of a 70" hip. We aim to expand our inclusive patterns to include other adaptive garments, including apparel designed for people with mobility needs.
